Come to Adelaide Writers’ Week with me!

26 February – 1 March 2027

Hosted by Jane Sullivan

Jane profile

I have wanted to go to Adelaide Writers’ Week for years.

Every year I see the program announced, watch authors I adore appearing under those beautiful Plane trees, and think, one day, I am going to do that.

Well, 2027 is the year... and I don’t want to go alone.

I’m taking a small group of Birds with me for three glorious nights in Adelaide, built around one of Australia’s most-loved literary events.

Think brilliant writers, fascinating conversations, beautiful food, a glass of wine at the end of the day and plenty of time to talk books with people who love them every bit as much as you do.

This isn’t a packed-to-the-minute tour. It’s a chance to experience Writers’ Week together, with some very special Birds touches along the way.

Your Adelaide literary escape includes...

Three nights at Little National Adelaide

We’ll be staying in luxe accommodation right in the city — the perfect base for our Writers’ Week adventures. And yes… there’s a bath. Heaven after a long day of listening to authors talk about books.

Breakfast each morning

Start the day together over breakfast before heading out to soak up everything Adelaide Writers’ Week has to offer.

Rooftop Welcome evening

We’ll kick off our weekend with a relaxed cocktail-style dinner on the rooftop, with a selection of wine and soft drinks included.

It’s our chance to meet everyone, settle in and toast the weekend ahead.

The really special bit…

An exclusive private dinner with an author!

On Saturday night we’ll step away from the crowds for something very special: an intimate private dinner with an author, exclusively for our Birds.

We'll share a beautiful sit-down meal at a local restaurant within walking distance of our accommodation, with wine included.

But more importantly, this is our chance to sit around the table with an author and have the kind of conversation you simply don’t get at a large public event.

If you joined us for our private Q&A with Sita at our Spicer's retreat, you’ll know exactly why we love creating these experiences.

There's something magical about having the time and space to ask questions, hear the stories behind the book and talk about writing, reading and everything in between.

It’s intimate, relaxed and very, very Birds.

And, of course…

Writers’ Week

During our stay, we’ll immerse ourselves in Adelaide Writers’ Week listening to extraordinary authors, discovering new books, and inevitably coming home with a much longer TBR pile than the one we arrived with.

There’ll also be time to enjoy Adelaide, catch up over coffee or wine, swap recommendations and debrief after the sessions that have us all talking. Because half the fun of a writers’ festival is what happens after the author leaves the stage.

We acknowledge the privilege of living and working on Aboriginal land where sovereignty has never been ceded. We pay our deepest respect to past and present Traditional Custodians and Elders past, present and emerging.

We love stories. We love reading, telling and hearing stories because they connect us whilst bringing meaning and richness to our lives. For 60,000 years the stories of First Nations people have hummed and flowed through the soil and rivers of this country nurturing us all. For that we are grateful.
